The Daredevil goes Trekking
From then on it was 5 days in the desert looking at cave paintings, wildlife, desert scrub, dry river beds and a variety of flora and fauna. At night we would spend time around the campfire talking about the day and making up stories for amusement. We would then retire to our swags for a sleep under the stars. Sometimes a lone dingo would be howling nearby. The birds woke us each morning and from our swags we'd watch the magnificent sunrise.
Each day we journey along dry river beds and through miles upon miles of spinafex. The camels walked slowly behind each other but every now and then broke into a trot to catch up to the lead camel. Once, sensing they were close to home they broke out into a run and we all sat bobbing up and down on speeding camels, racing each other to the end.
The five day camel safari gives you an appreciation of how difficult life must have been for the original tribes that inhabited the land. Looking across the vast dry landscape reinforced that life was tough and cruel. It was a sobering experience but also an appreciation for the skills needed to survive in this part of the land. Overall this was a great experience and one where gathering a group of your friends and booking yourself on a safari will be one you'll never regret.
