The Runes will not tell your fortune; they will not give you a yes/no answer to your questions nor will they absolve you of responsibility for making choices. So what then are they and what do they do?

The Runes are an Oracle and as such aim to bring to your awareness hidden forces and motivations within you that are shaping your future.

An Oracle, as perceived by ancient Greeks and Romans, was considered to be a divine announcement: a place where deities were consulted. Today we are more likely to give it a more psychological interpretation.

The Runes are over 2,000 years old and were used by the Vikings in much the same way as the I-Ching. The word rune means a sectret thing/mystery. Many Rune Readers of ancient times were women - perhaps on the midlifexpress! who were honoured, welcomed and at the same time feared by superstitious people of this pre-sceintific age.

Runic symbols can be etched on many objects such as sticks, stones or shells and in ancient times, as the earth and all created things were seen to be alive, they were considered sacred.

Consulting the Runes

The Rune can be consulted at times of crisis or when you have exhausted your own ability to understand your problem or on an every day basis when you feel at a standstill and at a loss to know what to do right now.

Many a time, finding myself exhanusted by the struggle to reason something through, I have consulted the Runes only to be alerted to blockages within that I had been unaware of. Feeling these blockages enabled me to make the progress necessary to move on.

It is important to frame your concern as an issue not as a question, as this will allow you to take full responsibility for its resolution.

Rune Casting

My Runes, light colored stones, live in a worn old velvet bag big enough to allow my hand to delve in and select the required number.

Before casting the Runes and if time permits, I spend a few minutes clearing my mind of the trivia of the day, light a stick or incense and prepare to receive what arises.

With the issues for consultation firmly in mind I then spread my field of blue silk and select the Runes by putting my hand into the bag and moving it around until a Rune appears to adhere to it. Then, depending on the spread I have chosen I spread the runes out and read the symbols.

Should a crisis arise and an urgent reading to be required all of this preparation can by bypassed and one Rune can be drawn from the bag. This will serve as an overview of the situation and suffice until the opportunity arises to consult in more depth.

Reading the Runes

As every Rune has a symbol with a specific meaning the Rune reader then interprets from this basis leaving the one consulting to come to an understanding of their situation.

How it works I do not know. It seems ludicrous that a random selection of stones could tell you anything in depth about yourself however, don't take my word - try it for yourself and experience the uncanny accuracy of the wisdom of the Runes.
