Eat less and live long and prosper

Smooth foods are all I can eat while I sustain six months of dental reconstruction.
My calorie intake has halved since the oral horror began three months ago and I now look like a stick insect in a baggy dress.
My misery was broad and deep and boundless until yesterday when I read about caloric restriction with adequate nutrition (CRAN). It’s not about starvation and it’s not about anorexia — it’s about resisting the urge to eat ad libitum. And it turns out that resisting this urge could add decades to our lives.
The choice is stark and I suspect most of us will find it about as appetising as a deep-fried sea cucumber with hollandaise sauce.
