Mommy bloggers meet networked moms

Mommy blogger is so 2012 – we’re now called the “networked moms”, women so technology proficient that rebranding was required to acknowledge our aptitude.

A tech savvy mum? Does this mean we can change nappies, humour teenagers, manage a job and participate in online communities whilst comfortably using a range of technological devices?

According to the Engaged Mom’s Blog, mothers constitute a large and growing market for mobile devices including phones, tablets and eReaders. This makes women a very attractive advertising opportunity. Sharing tips and advice about brands is something women have always excelled at and mommy bloggers can be very powerful indeed.

What’s in a name?  Shakespeare once pondered. Quite a lot it would seem, particularly for marketers wanting sponsored posts and advertising plugs to reach tech savvy women. The networked mom conjures up a more glamorous and influential demographic than a mere mommy blogger after all.

Of course, this begs the question:  What will they be calling us in 2014?
