Solutions need not be complicated, nor do they require excessive amounts of extra hard thinking. I love this notion: Answers can, and do, arrive effortlessly – with minimal fuss or confusion when given spaciousness.
With these thoughts in mind, I felt you would connect with the following wise words, a quotation of sorts from the late Gabrielle Roth (1941 – 2012).
An incredibly inspirational author and electrifying dancer, Gabrielle was also a teacher with a passion for shamanism and movement.
As you read the following extract (and I recommend you read it slowly a few times, inhaling it deeply into your belly) you’ll probably get a sense of her wise words skipping the mind and speaking directly and passionately to your soul.
For me, there was an instant sense of the familiar and knowing. My soul replied “Yes, this is so true.”
“In many shamanic societies if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed they would ask one of four questions:
When did you stop dancing?
When did you stop singing?
When did you stop being enchanted by stories?
When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence?
Where we have stopped dancing, singing, being enchanted by stories, or finding comfort in silence is where we have experienced the loss of soul.
Dancing, singing, storytelling, and silence are the four universal healing salves”
