Personally, I find the Spandex outfits on shapely men like Batman, Iron Man, Superman, Spiderman, Green Lantern, Captain America, The Hulk and Thor are the main attraction.
However, watch enough of these spandex males and you’ll find they all have several things in common:
- a super power
- a kryptonite equivalent
- a secret, multi-step “system” for achieving big things in life
I have a superpower. And so do you. My superpower is persistence. Think about your superhero ability. What do people say about you? What is your strength?
Alas, counteracting my superpower is my kryptonite equivalent. It is a force that weakens, disempowers, and destroys.
Kryptonite can be a toxic environment, person, job, or lifestyle. It could be stress over financial problems, fear, anger, disappointment, poor mental health, or physical appearance.
My kryptonite is restlessness.
Kryptonite undermines our superpower. We must learn to avoid it.
The secret system for achieving big things in life
Here are seven superpower steps:
Never give up
‘Never give up, never give up, never give up.’ – Winston Churchill
Do super heroes give up? Imagine if Batman stopped protecting Gotham City, sold his Batmobile, and sat in front of the TV each night. We’d be screwed. Giving up destroys our hard work, dreams, and potential. You might as well swallow a lump of kryptonite and be done with it.
Have you ever seen an overweight superhero?
Exercise releases endorphins which are powerhouse chemicals that make you feel great. I get up an hour early each morning so I can ride my bike to work. If for some reason I don’t ride, then I feel weak, unmotivated, and tired. Exercise adds to our superpower.
Believe in something
Superheroes believe in creating a better world.
My belief is that animals are intelligent and should not be eaten. Few people share this belief, but it influences my clothing, food, and lifestyle choices.
Superheroes take responsibility.
Too much responsibility can make us crack but no responsibility leads to a self-absorbed, frivolous lifestyle. Laziness is kryptonite. The less we do, the less we want to do.
Do you ever see a stupid superhero?
Read, write, and talk. Exchange ideas. It contributes to our education. Ignorance is kryptonite.
Superheroes leave the house every day
To understand the world we have to see it. Opportunities to travel have never been better. Don’t miss them.
Superheroes appreciate the planet
Growing food and harvesting the crop are two of the best superpowers we can have. Get close to nature and start appreciating all living things.
Next time you watch a superhero bounding across the screen, think about your own superpower.
And how good you would look in spandex.
